Unrelenting-Beauty

- Despite the terrible fire, its beauty is revealed. -

Unrelenting-Beauty was created in Portugal during and after the forest fires of 2017. The series focuses on the moment in which catastrophe and beauty exist at the same time. Burned trees, scorched earth and drifting smoke reveal the violence of the event, yet within that destruction something else becomes visible. Light touches the ash, colors rise from embers, and the landscape shows a fragile clarity that only appears in the aftermath.

The work does not try to soften the devastation. It looks directly at the traces of fire and at the silence that follows. In that silence, beauty persists. It is immediate, unfiltered and inseparable from the damage that surrounds it. Unrelenting-Beauty invites the viewer to see how creation and loss are bound together, and how the landscape continues to move even when everything seems broken.
